Edmund is now 1 year and 8 months old. We had our hospital tour today and had the chance to see a few new born babies and I gasped at how much bigger Edmund is. He is still our little guy, but he's really no longer a baby. Even though he loves to snuggle with us and depends on us for many of his needs, the fact that he is going to have to be a big boy and a big brother very soon is a little startling.
We have been continuing to "try" to get Edmund ready for the baby arriving. We will be moving him into his new room in the next few weeks. Also, mom finally weaned him, which was a bit sad, but something that she wanted to do before the new baby arrived. We have been reading him books on the being a big brother and make sure to point out babies whenever we see them and talk about the baby in mom's tummy.
We have been loving and hating the crazy weather this past month. One week it's snowing, and the next week it's sixty degrees out. We enjoyed playing with Edmund in the snow and also playing with Edmund at the local park.

His favorite is going down the slide and climbing back up again. (Dad had to hold him so that mom could actually get a picture, otherwise he would have been at the bottom of the slide already.)

Edmund has also enjoyed going on walks down the block where we don't put him in the stroller. He runs almost the entire time and yells, he loves it so much. It seems we are all ready for the snow to be gone and spring to arrive. (Although we are supposed to get dumped on with more snow this weekend.)
The highlight of this month was a visit from Grandma Kathy. Edmund LOVED being extra loved.

We had a lot of fun going shopping at the Polaris Mall, where Edmund got the chance to play at the play place. He loves watching big kids and because most of the kids there were older, he had a blast.

We also had the chance to go to library time, have a play date with our friends Jennifer and Aliyah, go antiquing, and spend a morning hanging out in downtown Powell, which has a cute little historic area.

We had fun also just hanging out around the house. Grandma and mom let Edmund help in the kitchen.

Also, Edmund spent some time this month enjoying March Madness with dad. Edmund is cheering for Michigan, just like his dad.
Edmund's favorite activities this month include playing his drums, pushing his Mickey Mouse car, playing in his tent, running around outside, helping mom sweep the kitchen, helping mom cook, going to the park and sliding down the slide on his tummy and playing with blocks. This past month, he started building towers with his blocks instead of just knocking down the towers that mom and dad make.

Edmund has also enjoyed the little art projects mom has continued to do with him. He especially likes his finger paints and drawing with chalk. He likes it so much that he smuggled away a piece of chalk without mom and dad noticing and then drew on the wall in the hallway a few days later with it. Luckily, it all wiped off easily.
We are so pleased that Edmund really enjoys reading. There was a period at around 16 months that we were worried that he wouldn't because he did not sit still for almost 3 weeks for us to read to him. Our reading time was only about 2 minutes per day during that time period, but now is back up to around 2 minutes a day. His favorite books are The Greedy Python by Eric Carle, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, and his new alphabet book from Grandma.
Edmund also has been on a climbing spree this past month. He likes to climb onto the couch, coffee table, end table, window seat, any chairs that are not pushed in, and will crawl on top of the table in his play room or the dining room table if the chairs are not pushed in all the way.
Edmund still doesn't have a ton of words, just a little over a dozen. That doesn't mean that he doesn't have a lot to say, it's just that much of it is not understandable. His new favorite phrase is saying "ah bye" for says buh bye. He says it when he is leaving the room, when other people leave, and when it's time for bed. He gives his dad a kiss goodnight, says ah bye, and blows kisses as we go up the stairs to tuck him in bed.
It's been another great month with our favorite boy.
