This month's update is a shorter one. This month has been a nice transition from the holidays - somewhat relaxing and not as busy. Plus, two big shout out differences from December with Edmund are SICKNESS AND TEETHING ARE OVER! Well, at least for now, until he gets his 2 year molars in. AMEN!
We really can't complain because Edmund took all if it like a champ. It just reminds us of the fact that he is overall pretty easygoing. It's not like he doesn't have his melt down moments or tantrums when his will is thwarted by mom and dad, but his tendency is to be pretty go with the flow and happy. We love that about him. We also love his stinky face he makes when he is excited or doing something he's not supposed to.

This month Edmund has grown tall enough to be able to climb on top of most of our giant furniture. He enjoys climbing on top of the coffee table, box window in our dining room, ottoman, and Eric's chair. He is also now an expert at coming down the stairs by sliding down on his stomach and likes to turn around and walk down the end portion with the wood banister.
Other things that Edmund loves are playing in boxes (as seen above), putting things in baskets, playing with the dvd player and remote controls, playing his drums, having people copy his movements, playing chase, pushing things off of the coffee table, picking up leaves on walks, and cuddling while we watch videos on the alphabet.

Edmund has a ton to say, although much of it is not understandable to us. He has approximately a dozen words that he says and another 10 that he signs. He also likes to do hand motions and have us sing the itsy bitsy spider, my God is so big, and the wheels on the bus. He likes to read books, but only if we let him turn the pages and there can't be too many words on each page, otherwise they won't get said because he really likes to turn the pages.
This month, Edmund has been traveling around with us as we have worked hard to get more things done on our house before the jellybean arrives in a few months. We bought furniture for the dining room - rug, china cabinet, table, and chairs! We also have been working on putting Edmund's big boy room together. Mom painted some art to hang on his wall, purchased and put together his new crib/toddler bed, and are in process of picking out a paint color.
We also took the plunge and purchased a minivan! Yep. Edmund will be riding in full soccer mom style, but we are pretty thrilled to have the extra room instead of trying to cram two car seats into mom's Ford Focus.
We took a trip to the conservatory this past weekend to beat the cold weather, and to enjoy a little plant life. Edmund had a great time running around and touching all of the different flowers and plants. He did a great job of not picking anything (which was a miracle), but instead was happy to pick up leaves that had fallen to the ground and to splash around in the fountain.

This month Edmund's looks have really stayed about the same. He has put on a little more weight since during the holidays he was sick for 4 weeks and didn't eat as well as he normally does. His cheeks look a bit rounder, and he's up to a titch over 26 lbs. He was 35" long, 99% at his 18 month appointment, and according to our pediatrician he is the average height of a 2 1/2 year old. He has his father's build, although we don't expect him to be as tall as dad since he is abnormally tall. Because of this, we are thinking about turning his car seat around soon. He doesn't seem to mind, but his legs are getting extremely cramped against the back seat and it's getting harder and harder to get him strapped in.
We have had a great January and have enjoyed watching Edmund continue to develop and grow. He keeps getting smarter and smarter and better at problem solving, telling us what he wants and needs, and playing with us.
