Edmund is now 5 months old and this past month held new milestones and plenty of new adventures with the holidays. Lots of time was spent with family and friends and celebrating family traditions.

This past month, Edmund’s appearance has continued to change. His hair is coming in a little bit more. It’s longer on one side than the other so it looks a bit like a skater cut. He has gotten chubbier, longer, and his head is quite a bit bigger and bobbles on this slender neck. He has continued the trend of being overall long and lean, just like dad.
Edmund loves to suck on his fingers, especially now that he is teething. We haven’t seen any teeth yet this month, but based on his new abundance of drool, we know that they will be coming soon. He also enjoys putting toys, teethers, other people’s fingers, and anything else he can grab into his mouth.
He has become very interactive. He smiles when he sees either of us across the room. He will stare at us and wait patiently for us to look at him. He will sit still while we read him books and is easily entertained by his toys. His new favorite is his stacking stars.
Edmund has started eyeing our dinners this past month. He has started grabbing food off of our plates if we let him, although he won’t eat it. He just likes to squeeze it in his little fists. We think this is a good indicator that he is getting ready for solids.
Edmunds new favorite play time activity is rolling. This past month he learned that he can roll from his back onto his stomach and he does it ALL the time. In fact, I have left him in his play gym for a few minutes while I am doing laundry and have come back to find him 3 feet away under the Christmas tree. It seems like he has found a way to get around and the mobility has already started. No more leaving him on the middle of the bed after I have dressed him in the morning. He goes into his bouncy chair or on the floor.
Edmund celebrated tons of holidays this year. We spent his first Thanksgiving in Indiana with Eric’s family. Edmund got to meet the extended Gregor family and got lots of cuddling with his grammy, aunts, great aunts, and Lauren, Ryan’s adorable girlfriend. While we didn’t let him eat any turkey or mashed potatoes, we did take him to cut down his first Christmas tree!
In the beginning of December, one of my long time friends Jeanna came to Columbus and took some adorable pictures of our family. She is amazingly talented and the pictures came out beautiful. You can check her out at

We also celebrated Christmas with both sides of the family. Edmund got to meet Santa Claus. He took his first flight to visit the Plantenberg side in Minnesota. He did great, sleeping the entire flight there and the entire flight home. We could not have been more well behaved, which was a huge sigh of relief from us since no one wants to be on a plane with a cranky baby. He finally got to meet his other aunts, uncles, and cousins who were all incredibly excited to meet him. We took him to many of our favorite places in Minnesota. He also got to see his first snow. We also celebrated Christmas with the Grashorn side in northern Indiana. He got to spend lots of time with his aunts and uncles and grammy and grandpa. He was also able to meet some of mom and dad’s friends.

It was a very busy month, but Edmund is so flexible it makes him easy to take him anywhere. He has been a bit grumpier lately due to teething, but his grumpy is still pretty sweet. Next month, we will work on finally moving him into his crib from the pack and play (there really wasn’t a point since we were gone so much and he was going to be sleeping in it anyway), having him finally get some of those teeth in, and we will start him on solid food.
