 Our sweet Clara Rose is six years old.

We are having so much fun watching this sweet independent girl grow up. She is such a smart and joyful child, with a stubborn streak, and sometimes a little sassy.

Appearance
At five years, Clara is such a beauty. Clara has long, thick, chestnut brown hair that is smooth and always looks perfect. It requires zero maintenance to look magnificent. She has large, round brown eyes that are framed by dark lashes. Her skin is a light olive shade so she always looks a little tan. She has dad's expressive eyebrows and small cleft in her chin. She has a sweet smile and still has all of her little baby teeth. We know this is probably the last year of her having her baby teeth and big teeth will be coming this next year. She is tall and strong with an athletic build.

Personality

Clara has a big personality. Most people that meet her remember her. She has always had a lot of energy and a lot to say. She is very bright and has a big vocabulary for her age. She notices things, especially what people are wearing. She has an excellent memory and remembers everyone's name. She is clever in her humor and is fantastic to have conversations.

Clara is our social butterfly. She loves people, especially her family and friends. She is always talking about her friends in Kindergarten and what is going on at school. While she can often be shy around strangers, once she is comfortable, she does not stop talking. She also has a fairly high social IQ. She can read people's feelings and  she cares when people are crying and wants to make people feel better. 

Clara is a helper. She loves being included and feeling like she is valued. She wants to feel like when she is helping, that she is actually making a difference. She loves helping mom cook dinner or bake, watering plants, and is an excellent taste tester. She tells me that she does a great job keeping her desk clean at school and is very excited about the clean desk fairy leaving her notes. Her room is never quite as clean. You can always find clothes on the ground and beads somewhere on the floor in her room.

Clara is musical. This girl LOVES to sing. She loves singing Let It Go from Frozen, songs from Charlie Hope, an also songs from Emma's music class, which is Fiddle by Music Together. Whenever she hears a song she doesn't know, she tries to sing along. She picks up on lyrics easily so if she hears it a few times, it isn't long before she is singing along. She isn't always on key but she is always earnest. She also loves practicing playing piano. 

Clara is overall a rule follower. While this doesn't mean that she does everything we ask her to do, there are many rules that we have told her that she adheres to without question. She always makes sure she is buckled well into her car seat or Emma isn't getting into anything. This doesn't stop her, though, from getting into mom's room and taking all of her makeup or leaving art supplies out for her sister to get into. 

Clara is artistic. She has really developed a love of drawing and coloring. She colors better than her brothers, despite being younger. She loves being creative and making pictures to give as gifts for others. She also enjoys doing any sort of art crafts or kits. We worked on learning how to sew this summer, she got a glitter sticker kit that she completed in a day, and she also has loved doing a paint by sticker book.

Clara had a big milestone this past year. She started elementary school at Walnut Creek and is in Kindergarten. She finished preschool at Genoa Christian academy. She played fall soccer. She started dance again this year and is doing tap.

What another wonderful year with our sweet Clarabelle. We are so grateful for this funny and bright little beauty. Her cackling laugh and sing song voice have brought us so much joy. While she can be so very challenging and strong willed, we know she is destined for amazing things. Thank you Jesus for making her the way that she is - funny, sweet, curious, and strong. We thank you for her charm, her willingness to help others, and her love for her family. We pray that you would continue to pour your blessing on her. That she would grow up strong and bright. We pray that she would be secure in who she is. That she would know and love you, Jesus, and follow you. Amen!
