Emmalyn Jane is now 13 months old. We are now leaving the land of baby and moving into full toddler mode.

Emma is still getting in so many teeth. She has been working on getting in her molars, all 4 of them at the same time, the poor little darling! She is taking it like a champ, but we know it is hard. They are starting to poke through on the bottom. She also got her other bottom lateral incisor, so she is now up to 8 teeth. Her hair is getting longer and is starting to fall into her eyes in the front, although it still is longer in the back and looks a little mullet like. She hates having it in a whale spout on top of her head with a binder and also won't keep a bow in it. Mom just pushes it to the side of her forehead periodically.
With school in full swing, this has been a busy month. We have had the start of AWANA, MOPS, Cub Scouts, and Dance. We have been feverishly working on selling popcorn for Cub Scouts. We have also had lot of fun spending time with friends at library time, MOPS play dates, mini golfing with the Manns, and play dates with Crystal, Sarabeth, and Sarah. Despite all of the things going on, we still enjoyed spending time at home. Emmalyn loves playing in the play kitchen, reading books, and plunking around on the piano.

Emmalyn is such a peach. She is flexible and goes with mom with wherever she needs to go. Whether it was bringing a meal to our friends the Hawkins family after having Isla, going to mom's eye appointment, pointing to things and trying to hide from other shoppers that wave to her at the grocery store, or snuggling in the Ergo while mom worked at the PTO Book Fair at the boys' school. She overall just goes with the flow and happily goes along. Well, maybe not happily, but she doesn't cry or complain. She is just a fairly content child. She also got to help be the mystery reader for Nathaniel's class at school. All of the kids wanted to hold her and hug her. They were so sweet and she didn't cry, despite being touched constantly by all of Nathaniel's classmates.
We attended Heritage Fishing Day at a local pond, which was stocked by the Sportsman's Alliance. While Emma didn't get to fish, she did get to see both of her brothers catch a bluegill and a catfish.
It's officially fall and we started our fall traditions by taking Emmalyn apple picking. We went last year right after she was born, but she was only a couple of weeks old. It was so cold I mostly sat in the car with her. This time, she got to hang out in the Ergo while her siblings picked apples. The grass was high and she would have gotten soaked by all of the dew since she isn't walking yet. She does love to eat apple slices though, apple butter, and baked apple goods.

We also took Emmalyn to the Harvest Party at church. It was sort a loss because it rained most of the time that we were there. We did get to walk around the farm for a bit, and Emmalyn got to eat some food and hang out in the eating tent.
We made our annual trip to Freeman Farms where we gobbled up kettle corn and Emmalyn went on her first hayride. We also got to feed the animals at the petting zoo and pick out some gourds to decorate the kids' rooms.
We also celebrated dad's birthday by baking him apple crisp and going out to dinner at Giammarco's. Emmalyn loves bread and pasta, so going out to eat there is right up her alley. She ate so much food, we are not sure how she had any room for apple crisp.
While Emmalyn doesn't have many words still (she still calls mom, dadda), she consistently signs for all done, more, and milk. It is nice that she is able to communicate more. She also points a lot to different things she wants. She is becoming more chatty and has lots of babbling noises she makes. She is very quiet when we are out in public and around people she doesn't know. She has a very shy disposition and takes a bit to warm up. Once she is comfortable, her silly and sweet side shines.
