It happened. I forgot to write a blog post about Clara. Well, I remembered and then forgot and then remembered and then forgot. Meanwhile, I didn't do it. So, this will be two months combined! (And extra late to boot. Perhaps I should just wait and make it three months.)
Clara is growing up so much. Her looks are about the same but her hair is getting so long that mom is actually contemplating getting it cut. It is so long for her age, plus she's tall, that everyone thinks that she is much older than she is. She is still all round cheeks and big brown eyes.
Another reason Clara seems older is that she is so verbal. At this age, she says 3-4 word sentences. She doesn't add conjunctions or prepositions, but she does make her thoughts known. Things she has said recently:

Clara arm itchy. Oil itchy. (She wanted me to put some skin oil on her eczema.)

Uh oh potty! Door open! (When we leave the bathroom door open, which she has learned should be closed since she will play in the sink and use up all the soap.)
She is so darling at this stage. She endears herself to everyone she meets. She waves to people at the store. She always wants to be included in everything. Whether we are eating, going to the store, going on a walk, or reading. She wants to be included or watch. We can't help but let her most of the time. If she doesn't get to, she gets really upset and often squawks loudly.
Clara is the queen of funny faces. She loves to stick out her lips when she talks and cackles when she thinks things are funny. She can expertly raise her eyebrows at people. When she is really laughing or when you tickle her, she cups her hands next to her mouth while she giggles.
This past month was busy. We went to Slate Run Farm where Clara terrorized some geese, got to collect an egg from a hen (and then promptly cracked it), pumped water, and pet some lovely work horses.

We went to the Westerville Touch a Truck and just barely stayed dry with a huge storm blowing through right before the event. We went with our friends Luke and Natalie. While Clara didn't really care about the trucks, she loved getting a balloon, a sucker, and getting to climb in the different trucks.
For Edmund's birthday we went fishing. Clara just got to sit and watch most of the time for fear she would jump off the dock and into the water. She was a trooper. We got rained on off and on and didn't happen to catch anything. She was more than ready to go by the end.

We spent summer days beating the heat by playing in our water table, splashing in the pool, and running through the sprinklers. Clara is big enough this year to do all of them and she loves the water.

We went to the Ohio State Fair this year, which was our first time in a couple of years since we have been out of town the past few years.Clara loved looking at all of the animals. I think she wanted us to take a chicken home.

Our highlight over the past two months was going to Lake Huron for our family vacation. We had went to Virginia earlier in the year for Christine and Ryan's wedding, so we decided that it would be better to go on a smaller vacation closer to home before school started. We rented a house with friends. It had access to a private beach and we had so much fun playing in the sand, kayaking, going to the local art fair, and hanging out with our friends.

We enjoyed the end of summer with some trip so the COSI. We went to Farm Days where the boys got to climb on tractors and Clara got to pet a cow.

We also went to some local parks and played. Alum Creek had some great views of tractors digging and dumping dirt.

We traveled to Michigan to celebrate Eric's cousin Angel's wedding. The wedding was beautiful. Mom had to sit out of the ceremony with Clara because she was beyond tired since she had a short nap two days in a row. We left early so that she could get an hour nap in the car since the wedding was during her nap time. It was not enough.

We went apple picking, which is one of our favorite fall activities. Clara loved eating apples and she ate it almost all the way down to the core.

Fall also means football with dad. Dad enjoys sharing snacks with her and she will sit with him as long as there are snacks.
We also went on some end of the summer trips to the zoo with friends.

Now begins the start of the school year and the beginning of the busy season - the holidays, birthdays, and more of the fall.
It has been another lovely couple of months with our girl.
