clara at 2 months

Our sweet Clara Rose is now two months old. How time flies! Sort of. I guess I would say it has been more of a haze with the holidays, family visiting, and shortage of sleep. This past month has been a sweet one with many memories made with our girl.
2 months old
Clara is becoming bigger and stronger. She can hold her head up pretty well and she has relatively good neck control. She doesn't seem to mind tummy time too much. She will probably be a tummy sleeper like her big brothers. When laying on her back, she prefers the archer pose. She sleeps mainly still on mom, in her swing, in the Ergo, and in her bouncy seat. She naps the longest in any of these so they have been what mom has used. We still need to transition to the pack and play, but baby steps, right? The most important thing is that everyone is getting some sleep.

The highlight of the month was celebrating Christmas with Clara. We took our first family picture together dressed up to go to the Christmas service at church. (Thanks to our neighbor walking down the street for taking this for us!)

While Clara was too small to take part in pretty much of all of our Christmas traditions, like making ornaments, hot chocolate in front of the fire, going to see the zoo lights, and baking Christmas cookies, she was able to keep us company and look especially cute in her Christmas dress.

For Christmas, she got clothes and mom and dad purchased her a soft doll which happens to also be named Clara.

We also got a special treat by having Grammy and Papa come and visit us at 6 weeks. This was their first time meeting Clara. They thought that she looks quite a bit like Eric and had fun spending the short trip snuggling and holding her.

Much of the holidays was spent hanging out at home. Dad had vacation to use up so he spent most of the month of December with us. It was great having the extra help juggling all three kids.

We are still working on getting Clara into a schedule. She still eats every 2-3 hours during the day, cluster feeds from around 6-10:30 pm , sleeps until around 1 am, back up to eat, and sleeps again from 2-6ish am. It isn't too bad, but mom would like more than 5 hours of sleep. So much for sleeping when the baby sleeps, right? I suppose that works when you have one child.

Clara is very alert when she is awake. She loves being around people and fusses if she can't see anyone. That's usually not a problem with two brothers who want to touch her all the time. She seems to be good at focusing on things and rarely crosses her eyes when looking at them. Her favorite is to study faces and is a very smiley baby.

Clara seems to have a pretty calm disposition. She likes to chill out in her bouncy seat and play gym. She rarely cries loudly. She more sputters and fusses when she is upset. When she does cry, it is softer in its tone, which is an enormous blessing. She fusses when she is gassy, hungry, or wet.  She doesn't like having a wet diaper at all, so we have not tried cloth diapering her. Plus, mom really doesn't want to try to handle the extra laundry right now. She is fussiest in the evening when she cluster feeds until she falls asleep at night. This is also her longest time when she is awake during the day. She catnaps pretty much the whole day away.

Her looks have changed a little since last month. Her cheeks have become bigger and her face more round. She is obviously longer and weighs more. Her eyes have continue to change to a carmel brown color. Her hair, while it hasn't gotten much thicker, continues to grow longer. She has beautiful long eye lashes and a slight dimple in her right cheek. She really is a beauty.

We are looking forward to a new year with this love bug.
